Yay!Starter May 2022 Events

TechChill

We visited TechChill back in 2018 and we were very excited for the event to resume this year in the beautiful city of Riga in Latvia.

There were 300 startups, 200+ investors, and 80+ speakers in attendance, so the opportunities to learn and network were endless!

Attendees included some of the biggest names in the startup world including the likes of Vinted and Miro. There were many opportunities to discuss hot topics such as the World of NFT and Web3. There were also interesting discussions about ongoing issues such as sustainability and diversity.

TechChill blessed us with a vast number of events, discussions and presentations. Here are some of our highlights:

  • TWINO CEO, Anastasija Oleinika, mentioned that the European Commission is working on a Pan-European regulation for short term loans. This includes buy now, pay later products, to help close the loopholes that currently exist in legislation.
  • A Discussion with Nordigen CEO and Co-Founder, Rolands Masters revealed that the European market size for open banking has now reached an impressive 270 million people.
  • The combined value of startups in the Baltics is now valued at $22 billion.

A great success from the stellar team at Vocal Image – Nick Lahoika & Mikalai Karaliou outvoiced their competition in the 50 founders battle startup competition and bagged the top prize. Well done!

In between meetings and presentations, we had the chance to meet some of our friends and partners such as Julija Jegorova, the founder of Black Unicorn PR and a long-term partner of Yay!Starter. It was great to see each other in person and enjoy one of the first big events in a long time together.

In 2023, we plan to come back to Riga, Latvia and we hope to visit Tallin, Estonia to participate in it’s Latitude 59 event.  This is one of the biggest startup events in the region.

Learning Technologies

Another must-visit event we attended this month was Learning Technologies! With over 8000 attendees, 90+ industry experts, and over 200 seminars, this London-based event had a lot to offer.

As a London-based digital marketing agency specialising in eLearning and EdTech, this event was a great chance to meet other learning and development professionals. We connected with big brands like Metro Bank and Chanel and  innovative, fast-growingstartups like Blinkist (EdTech) and Thrive (eLearning).

Most of the sessions  were centred around learning and training in the workspace. Topics included learning resources, teaching technologies, people development and leadership.

We attended a session on employee retention and engagement run by Metro Bank. The presentation provided valuable insights into employee lifetime value and highlighted many issues around onboarding.

In between sessions, we also met some of our clients, partners and friends. It was great  to catch up with EtonX and one of our friends and trusted partners Amit Rele from Zeus Learning.

Until next year, Learning Technologies, see you in London, Excel all!
